Weird behavior for VVVV.Packs.Image

Hey,

I (sort of) successfully compiled the vvvv.packs.image pack after some fighting with various missing dependencies (see my thread here ((forum:compiling-latest-vvvv.packs.image-nodes-missing))

The weird thing is that I (still) get an exception dialog from time to time as seen in the attachment.

This patch works for me:
sites/default/files/user-files/YES%20-%20ImageFilter%20-%20Overview.v4p

This patch does not work and ends in an exception:
sites/default/files/user-files/NO%20-%20test.v4p

I’m using this version of the VVVV.Packs.Image: https://github.com/azeno/VVVV.Packs.Image/commit/32265da4eee9bba3628e6cd089950d32e7821547 and the latest vvvv_45alpha31.10_x86 (59967b91cb)

Can anybody confirm this behavior with his compiled version of the images pack? Or is it just me doing something fundamentally wrong when compiling the pack?

Please dev’s, or whoever else has a more recent compiled version of the images pack, give me a short feedback if those two patches work for you or not.

seems to work for me your NO-test.v4p patch file. no exception and when selecting an image i see it in the renderer.

my local setup looks like this:
vvvv-sdk/vvvv45/packs/VVVV.Packs.Image/.git

after that fixed DX11 references in the image pack to point to vvvv-sdk/vvvv45/packs/dx11/core/…

i’m building with vs 2013, nuget extensions 2.8 installed. before building i make sure that the build confiuration x86 is selected inside vs, than i right click the solution say manage packages and let nuget download all the missing packages - which takes quite a while. once it finishes, i close the solution, reopen it, press build all and that’s basically it. not sure if that will help you.

I’m missing the vvvv-sdk because I was under the impression that since the pack includes the dependencies via nuget that’s not needed anymore.

Hey,

still having the same issues.

I have the same folder structure as you except that I don’t use the vvvv-sdk. As far as I understood that’s not needed anyway as the dependencies come via nuget.

I don’t have problems to compile at all but I get runtime exception errors like the one shown above - for example when using the asTexture node. I’m just not experienced enough with windows development to track that error down to it’s roots … even not using the debugger. Asking google it appears to me that this error might have something to do with the provided emgucv package and the architecture it has been compiled for - x64 vx x86?!

Another thing that bugs me and that seems connected - can you confirm that the emgucv libs (src\packages\VVVV.EmguCV.2.4.2.1\build\net40) have to be copied over to the nodes/plugins folder manually? … otherwiese all the nodes from VVVV.CV.Nodes are missing.

Ah and I’ve forgotten to say … this runtime exception seems to be a bit erratic. If opening “ImageFilter - Overview.v4p” patch from the “VVVV.Packs.Image\girlpower” folder everything seems to work fine … but if I open a blank patch and start adding VideoIn->asTexture nodes I get an exception and a red asTexture node.

you should NOT copy any files. just make sure the whole thing is inside vvvv’s packs directory. as seen in my layout. that should be it. and yes the architecture does matter of course, so make sure vvvv is x86 and your solution configuration is set to x86.

not sure about your last comment - does it make a difference if you first create a dx11 node and after that your asTexture node?

Yes, for sure the architecture does matter - I know that. I compiled it for x86 using deploy_Release.

My folder structure looks similar to your’s except that I use the actual vvvv_45beta32_x86 and don’t have a “lib” folder. My folder structure looks like this:

… By the way, is meant to be that there are no emgucv dlls in the plugins folder? As far as I can remember, the last precompiled Image pack had them in this place.

hm now i’m confused, i get the same error as you now. and your’re right, the Emgu.CV assemblies are indeed missing - there “Copy Local” flag is set to false in the solution. changing them doesn’t make a difference as they get imported by a nuget target file - i think alg made this package and probably had a good reason for it. maybe time to ask him.

the tip with process monitor was gold! found the issue … the emugcv dll’s have to go into the VVVV.Packs.Image/core folder. If copying them there (by hand) everything works fine!
