Copy up objects

Hey all
I keep coming back to the issue of creating an arbitrary amount of objects. When animating the amount of transform triples that goes into a “sphere” node’s transform input it does indeed get interpreted as copying up sphere’s to all the given transforms but I get very weird results when animating the number of transforms. Is there any outline of “do and don’t” when it comes to meshes? Any workarounds that are common? Is the normal procedure to create all the geo on frame 1 and then just manipulate it after that?
