Borndigital parallax rendering


i saw for the planet on born digital event there is a picture file for artists to use to produce content.

i’m trying to understand the correct way to achieve some 3d/parallax looking content using only this picture and not the projector node.

so what i’m thinkink is this. use perspective on the camera that renders the image to step into the 3d world. then bring the camera down to where the spectator will be and finally shift the image back up to match the texture.

then u can render some 3d looking graphics.

i understand this is not the general case and works only because the facade is flat.

am i on the right track ? will the 2 different z-depths of the facade be a problem?
