If some compile error happens on startup when loading a patch with -o command line, the error window is not loaded and cannot help finding errors. The error window should probably be a native window or loaded before all other extensions so it is always there and be separate from the package HDE extensions, as they seem to be able to crash and then no extension is loaded at all:
