Waveplayer detects wrong Samplerate?

Hi there,
I am currently experimenting with the Waveplayer-Node.
My setup is windows xp, directx9 and a 7.1 onboard-audio (Asus RealHD ?).

The soundfiles are 48khz, Waveplayer detects and plays them as 44.1 khz (sounds slow).

Can I manipulate the samplerate of Waveplayer somewhere?

the waveplayers helppatch notes in small print:
files should be 16-bit, 44kHz WAV format

sorry, this is hardcoded and cannot be user-changd.
