I converted old wave files to mp3, all with same bitrate and sampling rate. I found out it depends on the length of the file. files shorter than one-second playback at 1,0 and files longer than at 0,25 to sound normal

they both have different sampling rates, one has 11025, which is a quarter of 44100, so the 0.25 factor makes sense…
ok thanks for having a look at it. I thought encoding to mp3 would force those sampling rates.
