UDP + boygrouping

this question goes to tonfilm i guess.

i’m using ur videosync module slightly modified and looked at your UDP sync idea. what i’m wondering is how u managed to receive data with the boygrouped UDP(server) node within the module.

what i see is that u send the timecode via the UDP(client) node to 192.168.x.255 and all boygroup slaves receive the data with the mentioned UDP(server) node. first of all , sending something to .255 makes it distributed to all IP within this space? and second, i tried to implement the same technique to send control data to all boygroup slaves but no message is received. probably a fault on my end…and not enough sleep :)

1.) yes, .255 is the UDP breadcast IP, every computer in this space recieves the data.

2.) should work the same way, just make sure (using the server ID) that your master machine dont recieve the data … ah, and of course use another port than the sync module …

you can send me your patch or upload it here, maybe i find something …

’ just make sure (using the server ID) that your master machine dont recieve the data ’

that will be it… cheers for the info
