The 7 S: Persian New Year Coding Challange

Today at exactly at 11:38:30 MET the plane of Earth’s equator passes through the center of the Sun which means that spring will start. In Iran this exact time is also the beginning of the new year, which means happy 1396 to all Iranians!

The most common tradition is to put 7 things on the table that start with the letter S for good luck in the next year:
apples (sib), vinegar (serke), coins (sekke), garlic (sir), a seasoning made from dried fruits (sumaq), hyacinth flowers (sonbol) and freshly grown wheat (sabze).

For this challenge I ask you to only patch with exactly 7 nodes that start with the letter S.

  • You are allowed to use IO boxes but extra points for only using String
  • You are allowed to use any renderer but extra points for using SVG
  • On the “Haft-Seen” table you are allowed to add other things that start with S like dried olives (senjad) or pudding (samanu) so you can use more nodes starting with s.
  • the “Haft-Seen” table also sometimes includes a goldfish, colored eggs, a poem book or a mirror. You are allowed to use these things symbolicly.
