well, didn’t work.

installed visual c++ 2008 runtime -> no luck.
installed visual c++ 2008 sp1 runtime -> no luck.
installed visual c++ 2010 runtime -> no luck.
installed slimdx june 2010 -> no luck.
restarted -> no luck.
maybe something else entirely wrong here? ;)
very old computer i’m testing on here. about 7 or 8 years old. all works except of text (ex9) node.
so i can at least confirm that something’s definitely off. but weird thing is that i even can’t get the text node to run like you described it here…
at last i installed the addon pack to test other nodes using slimdx. a few worked, a few not. :/
installed beta23 and slimdx february 2010 and no luck either.
in both cases, beta24.1 and beta23 opening the text (ex9) help patch gives me a green renderer and eventually vvvv crashes.
sounds like this whole issue truly needs further investigation with vmware and some debugging sessions. OR this pc is just plain simple too old.

yes perhaps a computer issue. i never had green renderer since beta 4.17 or 18
what is interresting is what kalle noticed:
maybe you only have to “initialize” this with the installation progress…
I dont know how you can follow directx runtime packs and what is decompressed where. this is chilling…

i have right now, just install vvvv 4.24.1 on my laptop wich is connected to internet, with a full complete .NET 3.5 as linked by the vvvv group, and the direct X june 2010 pack.
This machine is connected to internet. XP SP3. up to date fully.
4.24.1 TEXT EX9 works fully
since installation, in 4.23 TEXT EX9 no more works

i was having on this machine a slimdx feb2010 installed.
i tried to add june. i m still connected and tehre seems to have been additional dowlonoads from .NET 3.5.
but still no text on 4.23.
what a vicious thing… i m obliged now to work on 4.241 definitively ( or maybe reformating my machine ?)
by the way, kalle, i still need your help for a shader ;-)
