Speed setting in filestream causing hickups

hi there
i tried setting a iobox slider to the speed pin of the filestream node setted the slider value’s from 0 to 3. It all seems to work for a second as i scroll with the slider a bit but after a second when i let go it give’s hickups, starts playing at regular speed and then catches up a bit (where audio is lost) and then seems to go slow again for a second to only repeat the same thing over again
is there anyway to make it play smootly and could it be a problem its a xvid video clip or something?

Xvid could well be the problem, I favour picvideo, but failing that try it as an jpg or photo jpg quicktime. X vid relies on information from previous and later frames to make each frame so takes more grunt to work!

just installed the picvideo codec you mentioned going to give that a whirl see how that goes and if it fixes the problem ill leave a reply when i find out more

well so far my results are kinda not good…
tried the picvideo codec but gave me a very annoying codec conflict that as soon as the file would be accessed it would crash (even file explorer so had to DOS delete it). and tried mpeg compression but that gave even less luck then with the xvid one seeing as it didnt respond to speed at all…
does anyone have any idea what codec or other thing i need to get the speed pin working smootly with video?

picvideo basically is stable. if you experience crashes, it’s best to use a tool like gSpot to find the culprit and then reduce its filter merit value until it works.
there’s more on codecs in the FAQ Codecs.
