This is not really a bug, but a thing i stumbled upon, and could not resolve myself.
I can’t call up ROOT or show up patch structure.
The only thing i see is a button on the taskbar (VVVV) and the DX9 renderer window if it is present in the patch.
pressing ALT-2 hides renderer window forever and the patch window itself is nowhere to be seen 8(
The funniest thing is it happens both to beta9 and beta10 on my desktop, but both of them behave as expected on my laptop.
ja, this sounds like some initialization is not taking place on startup. have you started vvvv at least once with administrator privileges on the desktop?
according to google the 0x80040201 error means: “Unable to obtain server’s security context”. which still can mean a lot. are you still administrator while trying to uninstall?
i think we had at least 3 reports now of people not being able to register AddFlow3.ocx and still we have no idea what that could be caused by. hm…i’d need to get my hands on such a machine to probably be able to find something…
only out of interest can you try the new startup flag with beta12? start vvvv.exe with /logstartup from a commandline and there should be a .log file placed next to the .exe. which you could post here.
@guest.
sory, seem to have missed your last posting. but looking at the log files now gives me no further clue. vvvv seems to startup correctly on both your machines.
the only difference i’ve found so far is that AddFlow3 can not be registered on the desktop.
but the log shows no error during registration of AddFlow…
@nui
also your .log file looks good.
it will run the args.txt properly, however cannot pull up the root.
how do you know it runs args.txt properly? any renderers popping up? if you delete args.txt just no window shows up?
Hotkey seem to work also.
which?
Also, I have a laptop where, VVVV launches properly, but it does not launch the default args.txt. It just shows blank grey renderer…
a grey renderer suggests a graphiccard/driver problem. which card which driver? which DDI version? (read how to find out about your drivers DDI-Version in this thread
regarding remoting…lets meet in #vvvv on ircnet if nothing else helps.
hi, i have had the same problem, no root shown up at beginning, even tough i tried alt+r, Given that i’m an architect and i have just a vague idea about directx, activex, directshow and company…
I solved the problem backing up my system to three days ago…
now everything goes ok.
the only thing i changed on my machine in these three days was to download this software (Super) to convert movies.
I think the problem could be this software and its strange/bully/overbearing usage of directshow??
it’s just a heretical supposition, but i don’t trust on Super.
Do you know more, guru?tx
i only remember that i once installed super and just right deinstalled it again because i didn’t like it at all. and it didn’t uninstall clean. bäh. no go.
i kinda doubt that super is coming in vvvvs way. i have it running on several machines without troubles. considering you are an architect maye you have installed/updated 3d studio max recently which we already know causes such troubles?!
no, i don’t, i am a blender user, never had problems with that.
I installed just super, no updated done, i use dx 9.0c, windows xp, and the last vvvv. The only thing i know now is to stay away from Super.
