Random shifting pipes

I’d like to create a patch with a pipe randomly spreading out across the renderer.
How could I realize something like that?

as seen in the windows screensaver?

example for 2d version:
move a pillow (better: a quad with texture like halodot) along the screen with the clear pin of the render disactivated…

for a 3d version…the concept could be the same as the startpatch of beta…mmmm
look in the girlpower dir (inside vvvv dir). the file is “snake3d”
