I just tried running vvvv 40beta23 in Windows 7 Ultimate. I had to install DirectX 9.0c to get it to run at all. It runs, but I get a very odd behavior.
If I just run vvvv directly, no root window appears, but it’s icon is down on the task bar.
If I run vvvv by double-clicking on a patch, any renderer windows will pop up, and the patch will run fine, but no module windows appear.

did you run vvvv once as Administrator?

Well I’ll be darned. I was administrator (the only user on the system), but the right-click and “Run as administrator” fixed it.
I had searched about this for a while before posting, don’t know why that bit of info didn’t crop up in the results.
