HDMI in, on a budget. Avermedia gaming portable... VLC node using streaming?

I’m looking for a HDMI in solution to be used in vvvv, but on a laptop. My first option was blackmagic intensity shuttle, I know it works, but Blackmagic its a little bit expensive for me…
This other option is still more expensive http://www.epiphan.com/products/dvi2usb-3-0/
I found a good deal on a Avermedia gamer portable, witch is a great device that can record 1080p 30 straight on a SD card. Its a peace of hardware well known for recording vjsets or any type of media.
But does it have live streaming option ?
Well viewing this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LK-Jqt407lA
I seems that it does… that software that is used is the configuration utility. I guess its low resolution, and its super compressed due to the usb 2.0 … but is a HDMI input on any cheap laptop. So well, how do we get that texture on vvvv?

I don’t have the device yet, but I was doing some experiments with Irwin, he was able to view the device listed on vvvv, but that it, no texture found on any option.
But this device does works fine with OBS https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FhUWHtwVMuE

We already try the solution on that video, and the solution on this other video

And still the device is not listed as a video in. So the only option that we think is possible, is to Open the device in OBS and stream the video on a local RTMP server, and open the stream on a VLC node,
but here is the question, does the VLC node support streaming videos ? and how hard is to setup a local RTMP server?

any idea/workarround?

I have the Avermedia Live Gamer HD Lite, which is basically the PCI-E version of the Liver Gamer Portable from what I understand.

It’s a bit sketchy, but I can get an uncompressed stream directly into VVVV over HDMI using the VideoIn(DShow9) nodes and nothing else. CV.Image’s videoin node doesn’t want to pick it up at all, and while it’s reasonably fine in general it wasn’t letting me use DShow’s realtime avi recording feature unless the footage was uncompressed.

I’ve just recently been wracking my brain as to how I might get around this issue, and streaming on a local RTMP server could be a solution to investigate. It doesn’t work at all in TouchDesigner either, and I’d really like for that not to be the case.

Spending a bit more money could be worth it in the long run, but if you have success with a local stream I’d be interested in your results.

I just got the device here
Its working as expected… but the LiveGamerPortable is not listed under VVVV as a video imput
In resolume neither, but it works just fine with OBS
Here is a small screencap, If you have a secundary full HD monitor where you can place OBS to do a screencap, you can get a 1280x720 area from where toy can get the video with screenshot node

It would be nice yo have it as a standar video imput device

The delay is about .4seghttps://vvvv.org/sites/default/files/imagecache/large/images/delay.jpg

Now the idea is to look for a virutal monito for windows10 software, that can emulate a second monitor, and see if its able to use 3 monitors, laptoc monitor, output as a standar output for vjing, and a virtual monitor to place OBS in fullscreen, so screenshot node can get the texture from there… sound like a horrible idea?

Yeah!
Xplit Brodcaster have a virtual webcam out :)

Thanks, that setup could help me get around a few of the obstacles I’ve been having myself. :)
