Having problems with vvvv + Kinect + MS drivers

Hi

My name is Randall, I am fairly new to vvvv and am very excited bout it.

After several attempts with open and MS drivers, following vvvv’s documentation guidelines and tweaking things here and there, I am still unable to get any input from my Kinect using vvvv.

Whenever I add a Kinect node to my patches, it shows up red and displays no usable inputs or outputs. If I hit F1 to see the node’s help, the samples do not work.

This is true for MS and OpenNI drivers.

Are there any extra steps needed to get a Kinect to work within vvvv?

Can anyone point me into the right direction?

Thanks a lot for any information you can provide.

Have you got the addon pack installed, these will have the nodes for the kinect. Also will only work with 32-bit version of vvvv, 64-bit vvvv addonpack doesnt include the kinect stuff.

Depending upon which drivers you are using, you will use those nodes (when you get them working).

Hi benpalmer,

Thanks for the reply,

I am running Windows 7 64 bit, but have installed the 32 bit version of both vvvv and the addons pack. The nodes for Kinect show up on my node list, however they show up red when I add them to a patch.

I am using the Windows SDK/Drivers/Kinect Runtime 1.6.

Any further thoughts?

strange. you could try to get the sdk tools and see if the examples coming with it work: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/kinectforwindows/develop/developer-downloads.aspx

Is it a PC or is it a Mac running bootcamp? I know i cant get my macbook running w7 32-bit to run them at all but i have a desktop pc that can run it fine. I didn’t do anything different whilst setting them up.

Thanks for the replies,

I am using a PC, however, after a full cleanup and a careful reinstallation of all the components, My Kinect nodes are now appearing gray as expected.

I still have to figure out how to get any output from it, currently getting a blank white screen when I try to render the kinect’s view, but I believe there is some information on that topic in a different thread, I will have a look soon.

Anyways, it seems to be working now, thanks for the help!

hello, if you running betta 29.2 you need a kinect fix for it:

also usefull node
