3D position of a football

Hi
given a white or reflectant fottball kicked by an adult (so take into consideration the possible speed) how would you track its position in space? More then 1 ball may be in play at the same time
I ve got a few ideas:

1- 2x high speed cameras and IR light, should be possible to track the position

2- 1 single camera and using the size of the ball in the view field to calculate the distance from the camera

3- as 1 using 1 camera to calculate x and y and the second camera placed by 90 degrees to the first one, to calculate z

any idea or suggestion?
