Immersive Audio Workshop - Performance & Interface Design

One Sentence: Whats happening in your workshop?
Day#1
In this Workshop we will give a first view into the world and possibilities of 3D Audio, different formats and standards. A location with a setup of 24 speakers will be our auditive laboratory and playground.
After a technical introduction and some listening examples, we will start with hands-on and explore sound in space.

Day#2
In the 2nd part of our immersivvve audio workshop we will focus on live performance with 3D
audio using interactive interfaces to control sound in space. Again the location with a 24 speaker setup will be our laboratory and playground for the jam session. We will close the workshop with a public performance / jam of all participants.

What will attendees of your workshop learn?
Day#1
In the first Session of our immersivvvve audio workshop attendees will learn about the hardware - software setup, required for a 3D speaker setup, how to use it for different applications and to think audio object based.

Day#2
Attendees will learn how to remote control immersive audio systems via VVVV, using kinect or motion leap as controllers and explore sound in a big jam session!

We founded the Wisp Festival for Art, Technology and Communication last year in Leipzig, where we realised a 3D Audio Floor for workshops and performances. Since several years we at Wisp Kollektiv focus on 3D audio in our projects. Other Workshops at Hochschule Darmstadt, Fraunhofer IDMT, B3 Biennale, Theatre Garasi and HONF Indonesia
